The Helsinki Pop and Jazz Conservatory is housed in Soiva, a new building on the campus of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.
Soiva is designed by Tommila Architects, and TPE Turun Pelti ja Eristys Oy were responsible for constructing the façade.
Metalcenter Group Oy Ab, a subsidiary of the Alumeco Group, supplied the metal for the TECU Gold elements.
The TECU Gold material is a combination of copper and aluminium and was chosen because of its gold-like look and quality. TECU Gold reflects light differently depending on the angle of viewing and the light, giving the façade a varied and playful golden look.
This look is also meant to symbolize the brass of jazz and classical music, while the black elements of the building symbolize rock music. Together, this signals that the building is home to a variety of students and genres.
The TECU Gold elements are produced by TPE Turun Pelti ja Eristys Oy and installed on an invisible façade board to make the façade a coherent and functional whole. The panel is a non-combustible composite structure used on e.g. facades and ceilings for easy installation.
